OFFICER DESCRIPTION
Seneschal

The Chief Administrative Officer and is responsible for coordinating the activities of the local group and overseeing the other Officers. The duties of a Seneschal include chairing meetings, reporting to principality and kingdom seneschals, filling in vacant offices, maintaining the group's files and property, handling legal responsibilities (including signing contracts), dealing with the media, interfacing with the modern world, and dealing with conflicts that may arise within the local group.
Herald

Owen de Caldekote

A Herald may be called upon to announce official business or to do town crying (making periodic scheduled announcements) or to act as a Noble or Royals Voice in Court. The Herald also announces combatants and results in Tourneys. (Field Heraldry). Lastly, the Herald assists (or pesters) locals into designing and displaying “proper” Devices and coats of arms, and into registering “period” names (Book Heraldry).

Responsible for the financial affairs for the local group, keeping detailed records of all monetary transactions involving the local group's funds.
Master of Stables

Responsible for armoured or "heavy weapons" fighter training, safety on the combat field, conducting participant authorizations, and enforcing the armour and weapon rules and regulations for armoured participants of the local group and at local events.
Warden of Youth Combat

Responsible for youth (ages 6 through 17) armoured combatant development, conducting practice sessions and other training, maintaining safety on the practice field, and enforcing the armour and weapon rules, regulations and reporting requirements for youth armoured combatants of the local group and at local events.
Master of Fence

Responsible  for rapier or "light weapons" fighter training, safety on the combat field, conducting participant authorizations, and enforcing the armour and weapon rules and regulations for fencing participants of the local group and at local events.
Master of Arrows

Responsible for target archery training and combat archery fighter training , safety on the target range and combat field, conducting participant authorizations, and enforcing the armour and weapon rules and regulations for archery participants of the local group and at local events.

Responsible for encouraging local members to research, teach, and practice historically accurate arts and sciences, and keeping the local group informed of classes, symposiums and publications available.
Chatelaine

The Chatelaine is dedicated to making newcomers feel welcome in the Barony of Borealis. It is our mission to help newcomers get involved in the many and varied activities of the Current Middle Ages. The Chatelaine will provide access to educational information such as handouts, booklets and other materials. If you want to participate, then we will help you find a way to play. The Chatelaine, along with the Seneschal, should be aware of any publicity about the group. Any interaction with the modern media should be cleared with either or both of these officers ahead of time whenever possible. No one else may represent the Society to the media without the knowledge and consent of either or both officers. Demonstrations (or "demos" as they're commonly called) fall under the authority of the Chatelaine as well.
Chronicler

Responsible for publishing the newsletter, maintaining and updating the mailing and phone list, and printing any flyers or announcements needed by the local group.

Responsible for maintaining the garb/costumes which may be borrowed by newcomers. A limited selection of outfits is available at Tavern Night and a wider range is available at larger events. Donations of used garb in good condition are welcome. Reports to the Chatelaine.

Responsible for administering to medical emergencies at local practices and events.
Family Activities Coordinator

Responsible for overseeing the affairs of our youngest members, organizes activities (e.g. crafts, boffer tournaments) for children at local events and maintains materials and equipment for such activities. Donations of suitable materials are appreciated. Reports to the Chatelaine.
Water Bearer

Responsible for providing fresh water to participants, specially combatants, and will recruit persons for the Water Bearer duties at local events . Reports to to the Chirurgeon.
